some pictures
Here is an overdue picture of me at the light the night walk. =)

Here are a couple pictures of some cards I made today. =)

I finally have 2 days off! I have a Doctor's appointment tomorrow, which is overdue and much needed. I finally have insurance so I can get a checkup! Then I get to clean the house and relax!

Interview Maybe?
A week or two ago I re-submitted an application for a pharmacy tech position in Reno at Renown medical center. (the large hospital up there.)
Well, Thursday night when I got home from work I had a message on my answering machine from the pharmacy tech supervisor wanting to talk to me and possibly set up an interview!
I think it is a full time normal scheduled job, and probably pays really well with really good benefits. (hello, large hospital!)
So I called her back last night and left a message, and am waiting to hear back from her.
It would be a great opportunity for me, and hopefully the pay would compensate for the 1/2 hours commute (at least the hours would be better!)
So keep me in your prayers! Thanks!

google reader
Ok, I am a bit behind, I know, But I just discovered google reader in all it's awesomeness! =) I admit, it is a heck of a lot easier, since it automatically imports the blogs I follow. So amazing!
I am sitting here with an ice pack on my lower back after a desperately needed visit to the chiropractor this morning. last night my hip and lower back were hurting so bad I had to take a vicodin to go to sleep. (and I hate taking that stuff!) I have worked since monday and dont have a day off until monday, and the 9 hours days on my feet are killing me. Thank God I have 3 days off next week. At least my paycheck will be nice. =)
Josh will be gone tonight, he is going up to help my parents on their property. They are building a garage, and instead of getting up in the morning, he is going to go up tonight... So I have a night to myself to watch all my recorded girly shows that he doesnt like watching.
Anybody else watch the office last night? Yay Jim! I used to not like that show. Josh was obsessed with it. Then he started making me watch it with him, and now I like it a lot. (shhh.... don't tell him he was right ;-) hehe.
Ok, enough with the random post, I have to go get ready for work... OH! almost forgot! I weighed in at weight watchers this morning and lost 2 pounds! Yay me! I thought I wouldnt lost any after last weeks .4lb gain. ;-)
So yeah... Until next time!

Pay it forward
Well here is how the chain goes:
Julie over at Belle Maison did a recent post about Paying It Forward (I absolutley love that movie!) We should all be able to do something kind without expecting anything in return. To remind us all of this, she started this little game. The first three people to post on her blog received a cute little gift from her. (From her blog: "The little something that is sent can be something you made, bought, were given or found. Just make sure it's something that will make the person smile!" ) One of those three people was Trina at La La Lovely. She in turn payed it forward to silverhartgirl at Taking The Time to, who payed it forward to Preppy Little Dress. She paid it forward to Mrs. Forever, and I was lucky enough to be one of her winners and now I want to Pay It Forward to you! This is my first giveaway and I am so excited to have it be one that reminds each of us how important the little things we do are.
So, the first three people to comment on this post will get a little something from me - on one condition. They have to agree to Pay It Forward to three more people.
Don't forget to check out the post below this one! I just posted it as well!
**closed! thanks to my first 3 commenters. you should receive an email from me. =) **

light the night!
last night we were in California for the Leukemia and lymphoma society's light the night walk. It was neat to see a bunch of people there to support the cause, and to see the people walking with white "survivor" balloons, (including my mom!)
The event last night raised over $40,000!
One thing I think I am going to sign up for now is the Team in Training. It is a team you are a part of that trains you to run/walk a marathon or half marathon, (which is what I would do... it is 13.1 miles.) I think it would be really good for me to help motivate me more to lose weight and get in shape. =) The marathon I would aim for would be next June in Seattle. You have to raise enough money to cover your expenses plus like 3 times that for the charity. (so like if my expenses were $500, I would have to raise $2000)
So yeah, I am waiting to get some information back from someone, I know there are meetings in Reno, so that is where I would go. I think it will be fun!

Equal pay?
Here’s Barack Obama’s website on the issue of Pay Equity:
“Despite decades of progress, women still make only 77 cents for every dollar a man makes. Throughout his career, Barack Obama has championed the right of women to receive equal pay for equal work.”
Here’s Obama, talking two weeks ago in Toledo about GOP vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin:
“[She] seems like a very engaging person, nice person. But I’ve got to say, she’s opposed, like John McCain is, to equal pay for equal work. That doesn’t make much sense to me.”
And now, here’s the interesting part. Scripps-Howard columnist Deroy Murdock took a look at the Senate staff salaries of both Barack Obama and John McCain, thanks to LegiStorm, a nonpartisan watchdog service that offers the raw data to anyone who wants to dig through it. Guess what Murdock found?
Obama’s 28 male staffers divided among themselves total payroll expenditures of $1,523,120. Thus, Obama’s average male employee earned $54,397. Obama’s 30 female employees split $1,354,580 among themselves, or $45,152, on average … on average, Obama’s female staffers earn just 83 cents for every dollar his male staffers make …
McCain’s payment patterns are the stuff of feminist dreams. McCain’s 17 male staffers split $916,914, thus averaging $53,936. His 25 female employees divided $1,396,958 and averaged $55,878. On average, according to these data, women in McCain’s office make $1.04 for every dollar a man makes.
Can anyone think of a living American feminist icon who’s not openly supporting Barack Obama? Just wondering.

You really think it's Bush's fault?
I recently read another post by JoshuaP, That really opened my eyes. I wasn't planning on voting for Obama, but was tired of hearing how the state of the economy is so bad, and it's all Bush's fault.... But read this post that Joshua posted the other day... It is full of some key facts that I did not know, and that Obama definitely isn't going to say in any of his speeches anytime soon!
lets blame bush jr...it's easier than being honest...
Barack obama is not telling the whole truth on our current economic "state". he, in my opinion, is disingenuous. he parades around the country acting as if he is different than everyone else in washington d.c. he acts like he hasn't been sitting in the senate for the last 3 years. really, obama isn't a senator from illinois...he is just your average guy who wants to change the world. mccain...he's the insider...the career politician...the bad guy.
on top of mccain being the "bad guy"...he is also george bush III...and the current mortgage meltdown is the fault of our greedy president, the greedy republicans in congress and their greedy economic policies. seriously?
so it goes...barack obama is telling one of the biggest campaign lies this season...and you won't hear wolf blitzer talking about it. he, and the rest of the mass media are too busy foaming at the mouth whenever obama speaks...they are busy announcing the "second coming" of our new political saviour. i'll pass...
barack obama has been a key figure in the fannie mae/freddie mac "titanic" that is now going to cost our gov't billions to bail out. obama has taken more money from fannie/freddie lobbyists in 3 years than every other serving senator (outside of sen. dodd...and he (obama) has only been in the senate 3 years! they started giving money in 1989...and he has passed everyone else. read for yourself). two of obama's economic advisors (franklin raines and jim johnson) are former ceo's of fannie/freddie...men who made millions of dollars in bonuses while their companies funded sub-prime loans and were shielded from any congressional oversite by the very senators and congressmen that had been bought off. obama likes to act as if he didn't have anything to do with the current state of the economy...but he was uniqely involved with these companies and didn't blow the whistle once while speaking on the senate floor to alert us of the impending meltdown.
so it continues with obama...this string of posturing and lying about the financial industry, and questioning whether sen. mccain “gets it.” maybe mccain isn't right on all the issues but mccain was trying to deal with this issue in 2006! mccain wanted to bring greater accountability to fannie/freddie. in summary, the bill, S. 190, of which mccain was one of only four co-authors (sen. obama was NOT one of those co-sponsors), proposed to amend the "federal housing enterprises financial safety and soundness act of 1992" to establish an independent regulatory agency which would have authority over the federal home loan bank finance corporation, the federal home loan banks, the federal national mortgage association (fannie mae), and the federal home loan mortgage corporation (freddie mac). mccain was trying to fix this over 2 years ago...while obama was doing NOTHING. but then again...he wasn't, and isn't, a beltway boy. he's just an outsider trying to bring "change" to washington...which is laughable at best.
i found the following quote interesting...because democrats are blaming bush and the republicans for all of our economic woes...
"It’s possible President Bush could have avoided some of this...but can you imagine the grief he would have gotten for making houses harder to buy, especially for those on the lower rungs of the economic ladder, with the likes of Barney Frank and Paul Krugman on the opposing side?
This was the perfect liberal operation: The righteous cause of home ownership for those on the lower rungs of the economic ladder. Pockets padded for fellow cronies. And the blame for the inevitable crisis going to Republicans. Perfect. Bill Clinton is a genius."

My 2 days off
Well, I had yesterday and today off. It was nice having a chance to relax and get stuff done. Our house was a mess.
Yesterday I got some errands done, did some shopping, dropped off some resumes at a couple places (unfortunately none are hiring at the moment) and then when Josh got home we drove up to the new dog park in lake tahoe. It is fully fenced so we could let Stella off her leash, which she LOVED!
Then we ate at applebees (I was good and ordered off the weight watchers menu.) and came home and relaxed before bed.
Today I got up, cleaned up the house some, did dishes, cleaned out my car, then went to get an oil change, did some shopping, went to the self serve car wash and washed the outside of the car, then came home for a bit, then got ready, went to weight watchers and weighed in (unfortunately I didnt lose any this week, but I had a bad weekend. Next week will be better!) then went to a chamber of commerce mixer with Renee.
The chamber mixer was fun, I got to meet some new people, pass out some business cards for my website, and I got a card for a $39 intro massage and since I met her at the chamber, she is making it an hour and a half massage! How cool is that?!? I can't wait till payday... we will both go get massages. =)
After that, Renee and I hung out over soup and salad, then came home and here I am!
Back to work tomorrow!

so tired of it.
I love my job. I love what I do.
I am sick of drama, gossip and being talked about behind my back. The people I work with drive me crazy. I am so over it.
Today, apparently two of the girls were talking and said that they shouldn't let my type because I make too many mistakes. That is such BS! I was only typing for like 20-30 minutes while one of them was on break, and in that time I had to correct like 5 mistakes made by one of them! Then later corrected another one made by the other one. They chose to blame me instead of leaving it alone, or owning up to their own mistakes.
And last week one of my co-workers hear them talking about me and looked over at them, and they walked behind a shelf and kept talking. Seriously? What the heck. I try my best to be a people pleaser. I admit I am a pushover and always try to make everyone happy. I don't gossip or talk crap about people. I would give you the shirt off my back if you needed it. Why am I always the one people treat like this?
Is it because you know I won't stand up for myself and say something about it? That I will turn the other cheek and ignore it?
It is so selfish and immature. I am going job hunting tomorrow. Maybe I can get a job with a decent schedule too. This one is wearing me thin.
say a prayer!

My thoughts EXACTLY!
JoshuaP once again wrote a post that says exactly what I was thinking... I am sure I'm not the only one...
Lest we forget about the issues...
i'm tired of political mudslinging. i'm tired of turning on the tv and seeing ad after ad that is all about attacking the other candidate and totally void of anything remotely resembling substance.
sen. mccain ran an ad attacking sen. obama for being a "celebrity"...likening him to paris hilton and britney spears. is he popular? sure. do people flock to hear him? sure. does it have anything to do with the issues that face us as citizens? no.
sen. obama is now running an ad letting people know that sen. mccain is out of touch with todays' voter. he can't type emails...or use a computer. for the record, sen. mccain CANNOT type emails because he was beaten for five years in a viet-cong prison camp and it is too painful for him to sit at a computer keyboard and have his arms in the typing position...he has his aides type for him. is he older than sen. obama? yes. is he out of touch because he can't type? no. does it have anything to do with the issues that face us as citizens? no.
it gets old...this back-and-forth nonsense that politicians revel in. talk about the issues. talk about the issues that are important to me. abortion. unreasonable taxation. invasion of privacy. government waste. stop running ads that are nothing more than pithy innuendo...it has already become quite unnerving..

I took the plunge...
And I joined Weight Watchers...
I know I needed to do something, and Weight watchers is one of the only things that has worked for me in the past.
I will try and keep everyone updated!

We will not Forget.... 9/11/01

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.
That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
And I’m proud to be and American,

A rose is a rose...

I love this picture. I took it of a hybrid tea rose at the Smithsonian garden in Washington DC. I love how it is two different colors. =)
Anyways, I haven't blogged much in the past couple days. I worked all weekend, which stunk, but oh well. I have the next two days off. Maybe I can get some stuff done. =)
When I got home from work today, Josh made me get on my bike and ride down to the park about 1/2 mile away where he pulled a blanket and a chicken Caesar salad he made out of his backpack and we had a little picnic lunch, then rode to blockbuster to get a movie to watch. then we came home and watched "What happens in Vegas." I liked it, it was funny, and had a good ending.
So yeah, guess that's about all for now! =)

Diamonds are a girls best friend!
I got a diamond today!

Thanks to miss Downtown Southern, Sarah!
So the rules of this award are, you have to pass it on to 7 other wonderful blogs! So here they are in no particular order.....
The Royal Phoenix Family because I love reading about their lives with a baby on the way, not to mention the fact that I grew up with Matt. Kate always has me laughing with her fun posts!
Vintage Dutch Girl is another with a baby on the way... And I love reading her fun posts about their family and little boy. =)
Life as I know it is my friend Renee's blog. They are buying a house! yay! When we haven't seen each other in a while, I always look to her blog for updates! hehe. =)
Skrodevoli three words: I ♥ Christy. =)
The Prep-E Girl makes me want to be a preppy east coast girl. ;-) haha. Ok, not really, but I love reading her blog and seeing all the cute preppy things she posts!
Puttin' on the G.R.I.T.S. Is a super fun southern girl blog. I love reading about her life with her boyfriend 'country' and all the fun things they get to do. =)
The Super Secret Vault Stephanie is a writer. I love reading her stories about everything under the sun. Her scorpion stories (she lives in the desert) make me vow to never move to Arizona. haha. Another great read!
Thanks to all of my bloggie friends! I could only pick 7, but I love you all, and read you all almost daily, even if I don't comment so much (I am working on it!)
If I could, I would give this to all of you! **HUGS**

Can you really vote for this?
I came across this blog through a friend's, and It put something into words I have been struggling with. I don't want this to become a political debate, but I just had to post this.
"it's just so polarizing..." by joshuap
I believe that you cannot be a Christian and support abortion rights. it is totally against the teachings of the Bible to be for a procedure that ends life in the unborn. with that said, how can people who claim to be Christians support someone like barack obama? this is a man who has, for his entire public/political life, supported unfettered abortion rights. first trimester, second trimester, and partial birth abortions...he has even supported ending the life of a baby who survived the horrific abortion procedure since putting limitations on that would "erode roe-v-wade". he has even been quoted as saying "if my teenaged daughter got pregnant i wouldn't want her to be punished with a baby" (since there should be no consequences for a senators daughter ever...). this man has little or no care for the unborn...the born (those babies who survived an abortion)...and has, in his entire political career, supported a murderous, un-Biblical policy.
yet "post-modern" christians are flocking to his table...flocking to his events to hear him speak...and are "energized" (according to christianity today) about the prospects of him being elected. how is this possible? how are christians flocking to a man who, from a Biblical perspective, supports murder? who has such a low view of human life? i hear time and time again how abortion is "too polarizing"..."nothing gets done by republicans anyways"..."there are other issues besides abortion"...yes, there are "other issues" but none of which dive deeper to the heart of ones character and faith than abortion. you can be a christian and be for gun control. you can be a christian and be for socialized health care. you can be a christian and be for private health care. those things are temporal...earthly...they are matters of political opinion that have very little (if anything) to do with Christ and His teaching. yet abortion is not just a temporal issue...it is a heavenly issue. a matter of ones heart. God said "before you were in the womb I knew you"..."before you were born I concecrated you"...and i could list verse after verse about God, His perfect plan (which sometimes involves pregnancy) and Him being the author of LIFE.
so this is my question for any Christian out there who is voting for obama:
how do i vote for obama when he believes that the life of the unborn is equal to the contents of the trash can behind planned parenthood?

A day without TV.... (and a new bike!)
So last night, Josh says to me "let's not watch tv tomorrow. let's find something else to do together, like play a game or something." I was a bit hesitant, but said ok, why not.
So today, I woke up... and I had the day off... He did say just no tv after he got home from work, but I decided that I had a lot of cleaning and stuff that needed to be done. So I cleaned, (so much that Josh walked in and was like "woah!" HAHA) ran to costco, target and the post office, and went online for a while. I didn't turn on the tv at all! and I really didn't miss it too much. =)
When he got home, we went to Walmart to buy him a bike that he really wanted (a really nice mongoose mountain bike.)
I as looking at the bikes, because I wanted a new one. (the one I have is cheap and doesn't ride very well.) They had a really nice red Schwinn Cruiser... and I wanted it. Best part? I got the check in the mail today for the diet test I did for Woman's world magazine... so I used most of it on the bike. It is so nice! Here is a stock picture:

So after we got home, we cleaned up the garage. It was a mess... and we wouldn't have had anywhere to put the new bikes and still be able to walk through... It is amazing what a difference less than an hour working on it made. It looks a hundred times better!
After that, we decided to test out the new bikes, and after the proper adjustments were made, we rode to Starbucks (a little over 1/2 mile, we think) treated ourselves to a small frappuccino, and then rode home and played a game of scrabble.
Now we are in bed, and getting ready to go to sleep!
It was a nice day, and the best part? We didn't waste any of it mindlessly sitting in front of the TV! and we got some exercise! We decided we are going to do that at least once a week. You should try it sometime! =)

It's coming up! Please support me!
I don't ask a lot of my friends as far as fund raising goes, but as a family who has dealt with leukemia, It is a cause that is close to my heart. Sept. 20th is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk.
I am walking to Honor my mom, Vicki, who beat leukemia, and my cousin Nikki, who is battling it. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds lifesaving cancer research that has contributed to major advances in the treatment of blood cancers and many other types of cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and stem cell transplants, that have helped patients live better, longer lives. New targeted therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal tissue are providing drugs and procedures that are improving the quality of life.
But more research is critically needed:
* Every five minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every 10 minutes, someone dies.
* Leukemia causes more deaths among children than any other cancer.
* Nearly 20,000 Americans died from lymphoma in 2007.
* The survival rate for myeloma is just 34 percent.
Please make a donation to support my participation in the Light The Night Walk and help save lives. Be sure to check my Web site frequently to see my progress, and thanks for your support!
