Weigh in Wednesday 4/11/12

I was so good with my eating this week.... but I guess being newly pregnant and my body preparing itself and beginning to grow a new life just made it almost impossible to lose anything! So I was a little stuck...

Last week's weight: 224
This week's weight: 223
Total weight loss: 22 lbs.

I know that you shouldn't diet while you are pregnant, but technically I am not. I have changed my eating habits and am eating a lot healthier, which is leading to the weight loss. I plan on exercising and sticking to my healthy eating as much as I can, (allowing myself a few treats, especially when the cravings hit...) So I will continue to do the weekly weigh in just to help myself keep track of my weight. I lost a little at the beginning of both my previous pregnancies, and then only gained 15 pounds with each, so I am not planning to let myself gain much, and am hoping to just get healthier and hopefully keep losing some weight!

37 weeks

well, technically I am 37 1/2 weeks along... I can't believe it is so close! And yet, I feel like I am finally ready for this baby to come. (other than the fact that I have nothing unpacked or set up for it!) I still need to pull out newborn clothes and wash them, set up the co sleeper and the swing, and pack the hospital bag. I have been having contractions for probably the past month, but at my appointment on Thursday I had made no progress. I know it's still a little early, but she at least said my cervix was a little soft. Hopefully the contractions yesterday and today are doing something and when I go back thursday I will have made some progress. With a VBAC they don't like to let you go past your due date, and I don't want to have to fight it. =)

Weight Gain/Loss: ugh, I think I am at 20 pounds... (I only gained 15 with Jack)
Maternity Cloths? duh
Gender: It's a surprise!
What I Miss: sleep, being comfortable
Weekly Wisdom: nothing I can think of
Milestones: 2 1/2 more weeks, could be less!
Sleep? what sleep? Lately I have had a lot of pain in my wrists that wakes me up (pregnancy induced carpal tunnel?)
Energy?: not much
Excercise?: not much other than the move and chasing Jack around. He seems to be into everything lately
Movement?: A lot!
Food cravings?: nothing really lately
What I'm looking forward to: having this baby, of course! My Birthday is tomorrow!
Preparations:? almost none.... hehe
Best Moment this week:? Having a bunch of good friends over on Saturday night. =)

Oh the pain...

I have been having hip pain in my left hip on and off for the last couple months. But this past week or so it has taken a turn for the worse.

Rather than just hurting after a long day I now wake up in pain and it gets worse throughout the day. After cleaning the kitchen today and making dinner and The pioneer woman's creamy lemon squares I can hardly walk!

I mean it is at the point where it hurts to do anything. I can't hardly find a position where it isn't hurting...oy.

I feel like I have tried everything too... heat, cold, stretching, I went to the chiropractor once, and it didn't seem to help much. I am going to try and go again tomorrow and give it another try. I just wish I had the money to go regularly. (and get a massage, or try acupuncture or something else...

I can hardly get stuff done around the house, let alone get ready to move. Ugh. And to top it off, we were supposed to close Monday, but now it isn't going to be until the end of the month at least. Seriously?!? Now I get to move at 9 months pregnant! Oh Joy!

Anybody want to come clean my house and pack for me? ;-)

30 weeks!

I am at 30 weeks! This pregnancy is going faster than the first for sure, but I am definitely ready to be done and to meet this baby! I have officially hit the uncomfortable stage... My hips are killing me, finding a comfortable position to sit or lay in is tough, and the heartburn has officially started. (which is new to me since I didn't have it much with Jack...)

Weight Gain/Loss: at my last appointment it was 10 lbs... but I have another appointment tuesday. (it's been 4 weeks)
Maternity Cloths? mostly... I wear maternity pants even when I am not pregnant though! shh!
Gender: It's a surprise!
What I Miss: sleep, being comfortable, alcohol (not that I drink much, but I would love a beer or glass of wine or jack and coke!)
Weekly Wisdom: 10 more weeks, 10 more weeks...
Milestones: we are in the third trimester!
Sleep? what sleep? I have pregnancy insomnia, though being able to sleep in Jack's room on the guest bed has helped. It is quieter in there so I can fall back to sleep better. (and stretch out...)
Energy?: what energy? I can barely make it up the stairs, and I swear I am winded just changing positions on the couch, hehe... This baby is already pressing on my lungs!
Excercise?: with the nice weather we've been having Jack and I have been trying to go for walks every day.
Movement?: A lot!
Food cravings?: latest one was jalapeno poppers and chips and queso... haha. Oh, and of course, Donuts!
What I'm looking forward to: Getting into our new house, and then of course having this baby!
Preparations:? None yet... not until after we move.
Best Moment this week:? swimming with Jack at the swim center. =) Spending time at the mall with Josh and Jack. =)

My Birth Plan

Well, since I am over halfway through this pregnancy I thought I would post about my plan for the birth of this baby!

As many of you long time readers know, when Jack was born, everything that I had in my birth plan was completely ignored and went total opposite. I didn't want to be induced, I was. I ended up with a c-section and cried for an hour... you can read more about his birth Here.

Well, I have learned a lot and before I even found out I was pregnant knew I wanted things to be different the next time. I wanted to be in control of the situation and I wanted things to go how I wanted as much as possible.

So after I found out I was pregnant, my first challenge was to find a doctor who would work with my on a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean.) I looked into midwives, but none in my area will work in a hospital setting, only a home, and I wasn't quite comfortable with the home birth for my situation (nothing against it though!) I was lucky that a pregnancy center in Reno will allow me to try for a vbac, and even has midwives on staff!

So that is what I am planning! I will try and labor at home as much as possible (hopefully until my water breaks on it's own!) but I have to make sure I have enough time to get to the hospital which is about 30-45 minutes away. I want to try without pain meds, but I am not against it if I feel the need. I would rather enjoy the whole experience than be in too much pain to remember anything. =) And I definitely want to do skin-to-skin immediately after the birth! I think a huge part of the struggles I had with Jack and breastfeeding was related to the fact that I wasn't able to see him for over an hour after he was born. It was rough.

Prayerfully everything will work out how I want it to this time, and this baby will be born healthy! It is getting closer and closer and I can't wait to meet this baby!

so behind...

I am so behind on blogging... I blame it on the pregnancy and a strong willed pushing his limits toddler.

Anyways, the pregnancy is going good! I have been feeling the baby move a lot, and Josh even got to feel it kick for the first time last week! Last week we also had an ultrasound! Most of you know we are waiting to find out the gender, but it was fun to see our baby! Baby was being super stubborn though, and didn't want to show it's face! it took 45 minutes of poking and pushing before we finally got a decent profile shot! Here are a couple of the shots we got...

As I mentioned earlier, Jack is showing a bit of a strong will. I am sure a big part of it is his learning boundaries too... but he has been pushing us, not wanting to listen very often (especially to me,) and just being a toddler, I guess. It is a huge learning experience for us too, as new parents. We are learning how to best deal with him and the situations. But it is definitely draining... of both energy and patience (not to mention sanity!) Especially being pregnant and not sleeping well... I am having to put extra effort into not losing my cool or breaking down.

He is also cutting another molar, so he has been super grumpy the past couple days. drooling, runny nose, sneezing, the whole nine yards... which just makes it all a little harder on all of us.

I am excited about Christmas though! We are celebrating with my family this coming weekend, then just having a small Christmas at home on Christmas day. I am excited mostly for Jack because he might actually understand the whole opening of presents and stuff this year. =)

Anyways, here are a couple pictures of Jack from the past couple weeks!

Halfway There!

I can't believe that this pregnancy is halfway over! As of last friday I am 20 weeks! (so technically almost 21 weeks) This pregnancy is definitely going by so much faster than the first one!

weight gain: I have only gained 4 pounds

cravings: Random things here and there... the weirdest was easy cheese. and of course, donuts!

movement: I am feeling this baby move around more and more! I love this feeling! By far my favorite part of pregnancy

sleep: unfortunately not the greatest. I have been waking up really early in the morning (2:30-3:30) and having a really hard time going back to sleep

sickness/pain: no sickness, but the aches have been around since I was like 2 months along. so weird. and round ligament pain here and there.

That's about it! This pregnancy has been going well so far! I have set up a guessing game too! I am thinking about a small prize for whoever is closest, so get those guesses in

Baby Baby baby!

Well, today I had my first ultrasound! The baby was being stubborn and was curled in a ball facing my back making it almost impossible to get any good shots, especially of the face. But everything looks good. I was measuring a week behind my original estimated due date, which moves my due date to April 7th. But, since the baby was smaller, I get another ultrasound on Dec. 8th!

Here are my ultrasound pictures...

A foot

The only face shot we got (after lots of jiggling and shoving! hehe)

View from the top/back. Head on the right, spine and legs.

So I thought I had my dates pretty accurately since I chart my temp and stuff... But looking back on my chart, it looks like It is possible that I had a mis-temp or something... for those of you who chart, tell me what you think...
(*ETA* I realized I counted the wrong way on the chart... hehe. I am sticking with my original date... because there was no BD within the next week and a half... therefore baby must just be measuring small! At least it's only a week at this point!)

Surprise!

Josh and I got the surpise of a lifetime yesterday when we discovered I am pregnant again! Obviously God had plans different than ours, because we had been taking precautions. I have been charting my cycles, and according to my calculations I am due April 1st, and am 5 1/2 weeks along.

Needless to say we are thrilled, although a bit freaked out seeing as how we don't have insurance or anything, but I have no doubt that God will provide!

Still isn't real...

It still doesn't seem quite real to me.

yeah, I have been pregnant for the last 9 months, been uncomfortable, felt my precious baby moving around in my stomach, and pregnancy feels real to me, but the fact that I am going to be a mom tomorrow still doesn't quite feel real to me.

I know it will hit me when I walk into the hospital tomorrow morning at 6am... And it will definitely hit me when they put my baby in my arms for the first time...

I am super excited. A little nervous. A little scared. But I know that tomorrow is going to be one of the hardest and best days of my life. And I can't wait.

I will try and update you all as soon as I can, but you can watch my tweets, because I will be more able to update that throughout the process! But the next time you hear from me, I will be a mommy!

38 weeks, and the last one!

Well, I had my 38 week checkup today...

I am about 2cm dialated now, so not much progress, but at least it's something... My measurements jumped again, so my dr. ordered an ultrasound, and everything looked good.
She scheduled me to be induced on Tuesday morning, if the baby doesn't come naturally before then. She says that because my sugars have been a little higher than normal (though kept under control) She doesn't want the baby to get too big.

So, looks like I am going to be a mommy in a week or less! I am really praying that the baby decides to come on it's own sometime this weekend... That would be the best, because I really didn't want to be induced. So yeah, Just wanted to keep everyone updated! Pray for a safe and healthy (and natural!) delivery! =)

35 weeks (and an ultrasound!)

Well, I have my ultrasound this morning. I won't know what my Dr. Thinks until my appointment next wednesday... Unless she is concerned, then she will call me. If you missed my 24 week post, my Dr. was concerned about my jump in size over the past month (though I don't see it at all!)
Anyways, we got a god look at the baby, and got to actually watch it sucking. You could see it's little mouth going at it... "mama, I'm hungry!" Hehe, it was so cute! And we saw even more hair than last time! Anyways, here are a couple pictures...

Nice strong Heatbeat...

Face shot

You can see the lips puckered in this one...

And lastly, here is my belly shot for week 35...

Hope everyone has a good week! I only have 4 weeks of work left till my maternity leave begins! Although we are all praying this baby comes a little early!

31 weeks!

Well, I am at 31 weeks now. Almost 8 months! I thought it was time to post another belly shot. =)
Here is me at 31 weeks, 3 days.

Things have been going pretty well, aside from drama and crap at work. I just keep telling myself 2 more months! Hope everyone is having a good week!

A healthy 30 weeks!

Well, I went in for my appointment today, slightly worried after my last appointment. We started with an ultrasound, which is always amazing to see! We got to see a front face shot this time, and our baby has chubby cheeks! We were also able to see that it has hair already too! It obviously doesn't take after me in that aspect, because I was born bald and stayed that way until I was two years old! haha. The baby is head down, and facing my right side, which explains why I am feeling most of the hard kicks in the top part of my stomach. =)
So after the ultrasound, we went in and saw the doctor, and she said that everything looks great! Fluid levels are normal, Baby is good sized, weighing in at about 3lb 9oz, which is right at the 50th percentile. And the best part! I actually lost about a pound or two! Haha, I guess that 6 pound gain last month was probably water weight or something. So that was a good feeling as well.
So we are even more excited! 10 weeks and counting! I would post and ultrasound picture, but the ones we got today weren't the greatest. Oh well. =) Hope everyone is having a happy Wednesday!

I will leave you with a video I took of my stomach moving as the baby was moving around. You kinda have to watch carefully, but there is definitely movement, especially around 1:23.

Halfway there!

Well, I am officially halfway through my pregnancy! I am 20 weeks tomorrow (Monday.) I can't believe it.. though part of me is like halfway? that's it? haha.
I'm still not really showing... though that is only because I am overweight. It I was thin I would definitely have a bump. =)
Baby Welch is moving around more and more, and I feel little pokes almost everyday. Usually it is when I am sitting or laying in bed that I feel them. So that is exciting.
I have my 20 week ultrasound on wednesday, and we have decided for sure that we are not going to find out what the baby is. (Though Josh says he will be looking for something between the legs!) ;-)

I had the weekend off, so Josh and I Hung out and relaxed, cleaned the house some, did some shopping (would have been nicer if we had money to spend!), took the dog for a walk, and watched a couple movies. It was nice, and the weather was beautiful. It was a nice weekend. I don't want to go back to work tomorrow...

Anyways, hope everyone else had a nice weekend! And hope everyone has a good week!

Movement!

So, I am now 15 weeks pregnant! That's almost 4 months! =) And last night, I felt flutters, which I am pretty sure was the baby moving!

According to babyzone.com...
At week 15, your baby-to-be stretches her limbs and bends at her elbows. She's getting big enough that you can feel many of these movements. This week your baby is roughly the size of a small apple or orange. Her bones are continuing to grow and lengthen. While she looks more like a baby, her skin is still thin and translucent with her veins visible. Your baby is also beginning to grow lanugo, a very fine hair. It will keep growing until around the 26th gestational week of pregnancy (that's week 28 of your pregnancy).
How Big Is Baby?
This week your baby is roughly the size of a small apple or orange.

Pregnancy Brain
Dropped anything lately? Tripped over nothing? Forget something you always remember—like the date? You may be experiencing a common complaint in pregnancy—scatterbrain. "Some of my patients call it 'placenta brain,'" says Dr. Joanne Motino Bailey, PhD, a certified nurse-midwife and a professor of women's studies at the University of Michigan. While there are no studies to support the existence of pregnancy scatterbrain, notes Dr. Bailey, there are some changes in your body which may account for your sudden clumsiness.

I have definitely been having pregnancy brain. I was bad enough before I got pregnant. I went to the post office today to mail my swap package, and realized when I got to the counter that I had forgotten to write the addresses on it. Doh! And that is only one example!

Anyways, I work the next two days, then we are driving up to Redding, CA for a wedding on friday... so you may not hear from me again until after this weekend, but If you have any questions for me, as I posted in a previous blog, ask away, and I will try and answer them! =)

Have a great weekend!

It's been a while...

Sorry I haven't blogged much in a while. I have spent most of my free time this week entering hundreds of bloggy giveaways! I finally made it through all the ones I wanted to enter.
Things have been going good on the pregnancy front... kinda. haha. I had a bout of morning sickness today that was pretty bad, after almost a week of nothing. And I haven't been able to sleep very well at all... so I have been really tired. And I think the baby is finally starting to sit on my bladder, because I have been peeing like crazy! (not to mention the gas...) ;-) And I am feeling like things are moving around to make room for the baby. It is definitely a weird feeling.
Anyways, Josh is gone again for the weekend... and I went to dinner with our friends Adam and Renee tonight at a local brewery that has great food. that was fun. And I work the rest of the weekend. So that stinks. :-p

Fun thing today! I got my valentines swap package! I love doing swaps, and wish I had more money so I could do them all! Anyways, here is my lovely swap package:

I got a hershey's bar, reeses pieces (my fav!) and 6 packages of Bob's peppermint sticks... I mentioned that I loved them, but that they aren't available here, (Cracker Barrel sells them, but there isn't one within 200 miles of us!) and she sent me enough to last quite a while! And a cute little candle set. =) Very nice! Thanks again Michelle!

Anyways, I will leave you with some pictures I took today of Stella and Maddie. I guess they both just wanted to be close to me, and ignored each other. (they get along, but aren't the best of pals.) ;-)

Hope everyone has a great weekend! And don't forget to enter my contest! (or enter again if you are a reader!)

wow!

So, I went to weight watchers today.

I haven't been in a few weeks, and thought I would go today because I am going to cancel my membership and wanted to see what I weighed before I stopped going.

I haven't been watching what I eat at all the last few weeks. Of course... I have been wanting to eat everything, and for good reason too!

Well, apparently I lost 4 pounds! yeah! crazy, huh?

Someone told me that they were heavier when they delivered then when they got pregnant because the baby basically lived off their fat. Of course they ate a little healthier, but man, wouldnt that be nice! I am praying!

I changed my doctor's appointment today. Instead of next friday, the 24th, It is Tuesday, Nov. 4. I changed it because my full insurance doesn't kick in until the 1st. and I am not sure my temp insurance will cover this appointment, and then the new insurance may see this as a "pre-existing condition" or something and decide not to cover it. So yeah, to save the possible trouble, I just rescheduled. Even though I am super impatient and want to go tomorrow!

I really hope I can sleep tonight. I have been so tired, but it seems as though my body doesnt want to let me sleep. Pray I can sleep!

Until next time!

Oh my goodness!

I just realized that this is my 206th post! I missed the 200th! Haha. It seems like I just hit 100 not that long ago. Guess that makes me officially addicted to blogging.

I have to say, I feel so close to so many of my bloggy friends! I wish I knew you all in real life! (although sometimes I feel like I really do!) If any of you are in Carson City/Tahoe, Let me know! make we can get coffee or something!

I would do a contest, but I have a lot going on... as many of you can guess by the last post!

Why is it that I have been so exausted the past several days, and when I try to go to sleep early, I end up getting out of bed and playing on the computer because I can't sleep.
I have noticed 3 things so far about being pregnant...
1. exaustion. all the time. sleep makes no difference.
2. the need to pee a million times a day. (ok, slight exaggeration...)
3. gas. nuff said.

Thanks everyone so much for your congratulations and well wishes. Yeah, I am not very good at keeping secrets, and I am impatient. So I decided that we should go ahead and tell everyone. I am super excited that my good friend Candy is 2 weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy. So exciting! =)

Alright, I am going to go try and sleep again. Hope you all have a fabulous wednesday! =)
