28 week checkup

Wow, I am 7 months pregnant already! Part of me feels like It has been so much longer, but then the other part feels like it is flying by. =)

I had my 28 week appointment today... It went ok. The last thing I wanted to hear was my doctor say that I need to go on a diet. Well, not necessarily a diet, but the 2000 calorie American Diabetic Association Diet. I gained 6 pounds this month. 6 Pounds! I don't know how! It is so discouraging to think that I made a little more effort this month to be good, and still managed to gain that much weight.
I have also been tracking my blood sugars (can't do a glucose test because of the Gastric Bypass I had 6 years ago) and while my fasting blood sugar levels are good, My after meal levels are a little high. So I have to really watch the carbs and sugars I am eating. I really wish I could afford to see a dietitian who can help me come up with meal plans and just help me understand this diet.

Another thing she is a little worried about is that my stomach is measuring a little bigger than normal. She says this could be due to the baby growing faster than normal, or too much amniotic fluid. (which could signal other problems) So I am scheduled for an ultrasound before my next appointment in two weeks. I am a little nervous. After looking into the problems that could cause excess amniotic fluid (heart problems, gastric problems, etc) It just has me worrying. I am praying that it is nothing...
Prayers would be very appreciated! Both that I can stick with eating healthy, and also that there is nothing wrong with the baby and that I will have a peace and not worry too much. =) Hopefully these next two weeks will pass quickly. My appointment is May 20.
Hope everyone is having a good week!

Oh hunnie! I'm sorry!!! Is she thinking it's Gastric Diabetes? What does she want you to focus on with the diet? Measuring food? Counting calories?

Hopefully your stomach being bigger is because the baby is growing faster than normal, which would explain the weight gain for you. I've heard that gastric diabetes can cause the baby to be bigger than normal.

I'm definitely praying for you on both things! Please keep me updated.

Do you feel like you're going to pop yet

no, I don't feel like I am going to pop... I still hardly feel pregnant aside from the kicking. =)
Renee - No, she didn't mention it maybe being gestational diabetes, just higher blood sugars after eating, not sure when it turns into diabetes. As for the diet, it is more cutting out simple carbs and eating more proteins, fruits, veggies and dairy, and substituting whole grains for white flour, etc. Not too bad.

I'll be praying for you. Hang in there! I'm sure everything will work out just fine. If you worry, you'll stress yourself out and the baby so try to relax if you can. :)

If it helps at all, I measured insanely HUGE with both Gavin and Elliott Richard. Gavin was 4 days overdue and preactically perfect in every way. Elliott Richard was 4 weeks early and had issues from that but was a huge 36 weeker. Emmett John measured spot on or a little behind the whole way and was also a huge 36 weeker. I would try and stay positive and just look forward to seeing your little miracle again. :)
