Vacation Pictures!

I finally got all the pictures edited! I figured it would be easier to post a slideshow than to post them all individually, so here ya go!

This picture is my favorite! We got to see the Presidential Helicopter land on the White House lawn...

The last few days...

Well, It is Friday... We leave Virginia to go home tomorrow.
It has been a fun, interesting and educational trip. I have now seen our country's capital for the first time, and stepped foot where the first settlers of our country first walked.
Wednesday we went to the Air and Space Museum where the Space Shuttle Enterprise is currently on display. It was so neat! I never thought it was so big, but it was huge! They had lots of cool planes there too, and my husband, the plane lover, was in heaven! After that we drove to the Metro station and rode the Metro in to DC. We got off at the Federal Triangle station, and walked over to the White House, and got there just in time to see the Presidential Helicopter Land on the lawn and drop someone off. (We think it was the vice-president or president... they had 2 decoys, and extremely high security around the whole area, even closing off the front of the white house...) So that was awesome, I got some great pictures! Then we walked to the Washington, and Lincoln monuments, saw the reflecting pool, the WWII memorial and the Vietnam Memorial. Then we walked down towards the capitol building, and went into the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History before Going back the the Metro Station. It was a pretty cool day. We saw lots of stuff, and walked so much we were all exausted that night.
Yesterday we pretty much just hung out, went shopping, and sat in the hot tub for a while, and today we relaxed, went and did some letterboxing, and swam in the pool for a while. Now they are all watching Spiderman 3 and I am here playing online! =)
We head back up to the airport for our trip home tomorrow. I am ready. I am ready to see my puppy. =)

Virginia Beach

Today the weather took a turn! I wish we could switch yesterday and todays. We got to the beack at about 1pm, and it was in the 70's, cloudy and windy.
I guess it's better than being hot, but we only put our feet in the water, we didn't swim.
But we walked up the boardwalk, then down the street visiting all the shops. We got some t-shirts, saltwater taffy and fudge! Yum!
Tomorrow will be a lot of walking.... We are going to explore DC! YAY!

Whew!

I forgot how humid it is in the south. And Hot! Luckily for us, it has been a little cooler than normal, but low 90's with high humidity is still not fun!

We went to The historic Jamestown Settlement today. It was pretty neat. =) They had an Indian settlement, a re-created Jamestown fort, and replica ships that they came over on.
I can't believe how small everything is! The ships alone would have been so crowded! They slept on top of cargo, and the voyage lasted 4 months. The movies show them on these huge ships with tons of deck room, but really? they are like the size of our living room in total 'living space.' crazy!
It was a lot of walking in the sun and heat. So then we came back to the resort and hung out in the pool, which was nice... now we are in the crowded sitting area taking advantage of the only spot on the resort with free wifi and enjoying a jack and coke. ;-)
Tomorrow? Virginia Beach!!! Yay! I will finalyy see the Atlantic ocean!

Williamsburg!

well, we made it to DC! We landed at about 5pm, had to go get a rental car, then drove 2 hours to our resort. fun... My butt hurt after being on it all day!
Today was nice... except for the neck pain from a too full pillow. We went grocery shopping so we don't have to eat out all the time. (we have a full kitchen) Then we went to colonial Williamsburg and did a little shopping and saw the old buildings and stuff. It was pretty neat.
We went into a Scottish store that had all kinds of Scottish and Irish stuff, even kilts! Josh found a patch with his family crest on it, so we got it. Then we got some chocolate at a candy store! YUM!
tomorrow we are going to Jamestown! I wish I could post pictures, but my camera cord is at home, so you all will have to wait until I get home!
Hope you all have a great week!

A mother's heart.

We took our dog to the "pet sitter" this evening....

I am sad! I am worried too! I think I have a feeling of what a mother feels like dropping her kids off for summer camp or their first day of school.

I hope and pray everything goes alright. Our dog is pretty high maintenance.

:-/

Tomorrow!

We leave for Washington DC!

I have been working all week, and we had a friend visiting until wednesday night, which is why I haven't been blogging much lately.

I am on my lunch break right now, and as soon as I get off work tonight (at 7) I have to make dinner, do the dishes, clean up a bit, pack, take the dog to the boarding place, and get everything ready to go...
cause we leave at 5am in the morning. bleh! At least tomorrow There will be a shorter day thanks to the time difference. =)

I just checked the weather, and it is supposed to be scattered thunderstorms almost all week. Which means really humid. (as if it normally isn't) kinda stinks! But at least the temperatures are supposed to be in the high 80's low 90's which isn't unbearably hot.

I am taking my computer, so I will hopefully blog while there! Have a good weekend!

I'm Lovin' it!

So, I totally love the wii fit. I am an expert hula-hooper. ;-)

Too bad I have counter productively eaten about 10 snickerdoodle cookies.

*sigh* why does yummy junk food have to be so bad for you?

let's get fit! (random updates)

1. Josh bought a Wii Fit today... I looked for 2 months before I gave up nad said forget it, we will use christmas money, and by then the crazy will be over... Him and Sarah were in Target today and they had 2. He bought one and Sarah bought the other. =) Yay! Time to get fit!

2. I am still sick. It is moving into my chest. I swear I had this exact same cold several months ago. Why did I have to get it again? Hopefully it is gone by the end of the week.

3. Is it seriously only Sunday? I have worked all weekend and it feels like it is the middle of the week still.

4. My nanny is doing great. She is up and about and going like nothing happened. The cancer is all through her body, and what they removed was mostly cosmetic because it was starting to come through her skin. She will be starting chemo soon to try and get rid of as much as they can. Hopefully it will work.

5. We are going to be on a plane to Washington DC in 5 1/ days! We are going to be in williamsburg/DC for a week. I can't wait! I definitely need a vacation!

ugh.... *cough* *cough*

So.... I am sick.

Guess that's what I get for being around sick people (not to mention working in a pharmacy...)
Monday I worked with 2 sick people, then that night my sister came, and she was sick. Then the next day I was around my aunt who was sick (not to mention spent the day in the surgery center/hospital which we all know isn't always germ free...)

And it finally caught me. I have been kinda feeling something come on for several days now, but thought it was just allergies. But halfway through work today it just hit me. Sore throat, runny/stuffy nose, headache, and just general not feeling good.

Pray I get better soon!

On a better note... 9 days until we go to Washington DC! YAY!!!

Oh, and check this out... it is funny!
Bible In A Minute - barats and bereta

I'm still Here...

I am still here... Just haven't had a ton to blog about.

Nanny cam home from the hospital yesterday, and is doing well. She has been up walking around and is in good spirits. =)

I am getting ready to go to work. I got up this morning thinking I worked at 10, but looked at the calendar and it said 11:30. oops. could have used an extra half hour or so of sleep. haha.

I got a new phone yesterday. I really like it. It is a Samsung SGH-a737:

I spent most of last night figuring it out and adding some new ringtones. =) Now I just need to get a micro-SD card so I can listen to music on it. =)

Well, I better go finish getting ready for work. I don't get another day off until Tuesday...

Just got home from the hospital...

And she came through the surgery fine. She is still in recovery, and should be awake soon.
The doctor said that the cancer has probably been in her body for 5 years. They didn't say anything about whether they got it all out or what, but we do know they removed the breast and the lymph node. They know it is in her lungs too. We don't know what the future will hold, but for now, she is through the surgery.
My mom will stay for the rest of the week, and go home Sunday.

Please keep my Nanny (Pat) in your prayers. Pray she heals well, and that they were able to get all of the breast cancer/lymph nodes out, and that the cancer in her lungs can be taken care of with the drugs, and that it wont spread any more.

Thanks for your prayers for today!

p.s. Oh yeah! and I got a packet in the mail today... I officially have medical insurance now! CVS offers Aetna Insurance for people who are still in their 90 day waiting period for "regular" benefits. So I signed up! It is $80 a month for just me, with life insurance for both of us. Not super cheap, but at least now I don't need to worry about the possibility of getting pregnant and I can go get my thyroid checked. =)

3. "cvs drug test" came to This Post.
4. "dog "shakes head" playing" came to This Post.
5. "girl gold panning" came to this post.
6. "is it horrible to marry at 18" came to this post somehow...

some of these are pretty random. haha.

so yeah, I want to know who y'all are! Leave me a little note, tell me where you live, who you are! I want to know you!

Olympic Fever

I love the olympics. Specifically the swimming, gymnastics and diving. I have the DVR set to record everything. Which means I have to keep up with them or else I will run out of space... I just watched Michael Phelps win a gold medal and break the world record. I love that kid... He is stinking amazing as a swimmer. First olympics at 15, and now at his third! crazy!
Did you all see the opening ceremonies? I only watched until the parade, but it was amazing! I have it all Tivo'd, so I might go back and watch some more...

On another note, I think my parents, my sister, my brother and his wife are all coming up for my Nanny's surgery. We will have a houseful on Tuesday! But it will be nice to have them all here. =) (despite the circumstances)

Well, back to the Olympics!

Tagged!

Melissa Tagged me, and since I really didn't have anything else to write about, here goes!

8 Things I want to accomplish before I die

1. Have kids and raise them well (and hopefully get to spoil grandkids too!)

2. Go to Germany and see the parts my ancestors came from. (and Ireland and England too!)

3. Go on a cruise to Alaska

4. Buy a house. Preferably with a little land.

5. Own my own photography studio.

6. See the Northern Lights.

7. Be able to be a stay at home mom.

8. Win the lottery. (I know! I know! It's my dream though, alright! and besides, if I did, it would make achieving all these other ones totally do-able.

ok, I tag: The Prep-E girl, Lizze, Christy, Kate, and Renee. Happy Blogging!

I'm still alive...

Promise! I have just been working and busy doing stuff and haven't really had anything really good to blog about. =)
Work is going good, I am continually learning, and am getting better and better. I think my favorite thing to do at work is filling prescriptions. (the counting, bottling and labeling...) I don't know why, but I just like that aspect of it.
And I am getting better with drug names. It is confusing at our place though, cause instead of organizing everything in alphabetical order, everything is organized in brand name alphabetical order. So all the generics are in alphabetical order based on their brand equivalent. (so levothyroxin is next to Synthroid, because it is generic for synthroid.) see? confusing! Luckily we have a generic-brand cheat book. =)
Well, I have to go get ready for work! Later!

I have the best Hubby!

So I was sitting on the couch this evening when Josh gets home from work... And hand me these:

I ♥ Gerber Daisies... But not as much as I love him:

Thanks Bloggy Giveaways!

As most of you know, last week I participated in the bloggy carnival giveaways. There were over 1000 contests, and I spent each evening entering, and I think I probably entered about 900 of them. And I am excited to say I won a few sweet prizes!
Here's the loot:
1. A Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini and a Maxtor OneTouch 4. These prizes together are valued at more than $250, according to the website.
2. A set of handmade burpcloths
3. A set of 6 Christian books
4. A $20 gift card to Walmart

So exciting! Thanks to everyone who held a giveaway! I can't wait until the next one!

What a deal! (& a diet update)

So I read on another blog that JC Penny was having a huge clearance sale. Figuring this would be a good chance to buy some baby clothes for some pregnant cousins of mine, I went...
And I came back with this:

For a grand total of $28. Each piece was normally $8-10. We won't go into the fact that I am only giving away 2 of these outfits and keeping the rest for myself because they are just too darn cute.
I also got my dad 2 shirts for $3 each and Josh a polo shirt for $5. Bringing my grand total spent to $43. And you know that little part of the receipt that says "you saved this much today?" Yeah... I saved $150. Crazy! So if your kids need back to school clothes... Go check out their sale!
Here are some close ups of my favorite outfits:

ps. Josh thinks I am "nesting" now... because I want a baby. hehe.

Anyways, as for my diet, I am down 5 pounds! In 3 days! woohoo!

I went grocery shopping this morning, and now I am worn out... and I have to clean the house today... I cleaned and organize the bedroom yesterday and did laundry... now for the rest of the house....

Diet Day 2

Well, I have been on my diet for two full days now. So far, so good! I haven't eaten a whole lot, which is good, and I have stuck to the menu pretty well.
Tonight for dinner I have a shrimp, bell pepper and pineapple stir fry over brown rice. I am full! It was pretty tasty. =)
The only thing I didn't follow today was the walking. I got home from work, and my feet and legs hurt pretty bad. I figured I worked a 9 hour shift in which I was on my feet and constantly moving... that should count more than 30 minutes of walking, right? =)

And according to the scale... I have lost... 3 pounds! In less than 2 days! Woohoo! Yay me for no snacking and eating healthy. Josh being gone for the weekend has made it easier to cook just for myself. =) we will see how it continues. =)

I think I am going to watch a movie now. =)
