Sonic Ice

So, I am a big fan of the Ice the put in their drinks at Sonic. You know what I am talking about? The little tiny cubes of "crunched" Ice? well, I love it.

And the other day I found out they sell it by the bag. $1.50 gets you a rather large bag. This made me very happy! (we buy ice because our ice maker doesnt have a water hookup and I hate ice cube trays)

Anyways, their ice is perfect for me as an ice chewer because it isn't hard, it is nice and soft crunchy... now I don't have to worry about breaking any teeth.

Just had to share! =)

Holy Moly Batman!

Hold onto your hat! And everything else...

We are having wind gusts up to 70 miles an hour, and the wind is blowing at an average of 50-55mph.

Gotta Love Carson City!

Makes for a slow day at the airport though...

Rice Crispy treats and Shaved cats...

I have been craving Rice Crispy treats like nobody's business.... Tonight is the second time in 4 days that I have made a batch. The first one I finished in 2 days. And of course I am trying to lose weight... ahh.... Where is my self control when I need it!
Well, Today we didn't go snowboarding... we will go next weekend. I swear! I know we keep putting it off, but our time is ending, and soon the snow will melt... but they were having an event there today which probably would have meant more crowds.
Anyways. we gave the dog a bath, and she is nice and clean, then we took her to the dog park for a while, then went to petco to look at their fish, then went to petsmart to return something, and I got our money back for the last bath stella got that left her still dirty.
Then we came home, and shaved the cat. (Yeah, seriously) She was so full of knots and matted, that we really had no choice. It was definitely a chore. Josh held her down wearing welding gloves, and I wielded the shaver. She did pretty good, but would freak out every so often. Now we just need to cut her nails...
Here are some pictures or her shaved....

So now we are finishing another episode of House.. there is a marathon on, and as soon as it is over we are going to start The Darjeeling Limited.
Oh yeah... and I will eat more Rice Crispy Treats.

** Edit... We got through 15 mins of The Darjeeling limited and turned it off...

Saturday..

So, Today We slept in, then I got up, did some dishes, cleaned up a bit and made breakfast.
At about noon, we started organizing the garage. Now, if you have seen our garage, you know this is not a small feat. We started by loading a whole bunch of cardboard into the jeep that has been sitting piled up in the garage since we moved in. I will take it to the recycling center this week. Then we started going through boxes. I managed to get josh to go through a few off all his stuff, mostly toys, before he said he was done and went in the house. Well, then he put together the little smoker/BBQ I bought a month or two ago.
Meanwhile, I stayed out in the garage and got a lot of stuff sorted. We are planning on having a yard sale within the next couple months, so we are boxing stuff up for that. Hopefully we will make some money. Next weekend I would like to finish the garage and tackle the guest room and our bedroom.
Now I am relaxing for a little bit, and I think we will take Stella to the dog park for a little bit later. It is a beautiful day outside.
Then we have church at 6, and our bible study group is meeting for dinner at Chilis. =)
Tommorrow we are finally going snowboarding! yay! We have to use our tickets to Squaw valley before they close for the season. Luckily they got a little snow this week, and yesterday, 12 runs were open. So at least we know it should be pretty decent snowboarding. =)
Well, I am off to go find some food. Until next time!

WOAH!

I just found out I am related to Daniel Boone! =) I can finally say I am related to someone famous!

He is my first cousin 9x removed.

I just had to share, cause I thought that was super cool!

you can read more about Daniel Boone, Here.

=)

Sorry It's been so long...

Well, I guess it has only been a few days, and I am sure nobody s sitting waiting for me to post a blog... lol.
We haven't had a whole lot going on this week, and it has gone by kinda fast...

The past three days it has been too windy and cold to go to the trails for a walk, though on monday I took Stella by the dog park on my way to pick up some dinner.

Last night we went and bought a new fish tank... our 3 gallon tank light went out and wouldnt come back on, even with a new bulb (that I spend 6 bucks on! grr...) So we upgraded to a 5 gallon tank, took our huge goldfish out of the 10 gallon tank and put him in with the two other goldfish in the new one, then bought 4 platys to take it's spot in the 10 gallon tank... so now we have like 11 or 12 small fish in the larger tank. Except one of the new fish died today... so it's a good thing I kept the reciept.

In other news, I have made a few breakthroughs in my family history, so I am really excited about that. I have been spending all my time on ancestry.com searching for stuff, and since I only have a 2 week trial, I am trying to get as much info as I can.

Anyways that's all for now, I guess. Until next time!

Our Weekend...

So This weekend, we went to my parents house in Manteca. It was a really good weekend. We got in Friday night around 9, and just hung out with my family for the evening... Saturday I woke up, we got ready, Josh and I ran to Savemart and Costco to get sodas and pick up the cake for the bridal shower I threw for my brother's fiance, Victoria. Oh, and I found the dishes I wrote about in the post below... nice!

Then we got home, finished cleaning up some stuff, set everything up, Josh went to hang out with Seth for the day, and then the shower started. It was a good shower. There were a lot of people there, and she got a lot of gifts, which I was glad for. =)

Then Saturday night, Josh went with Seth to Seth's friend's house to watch a UFC fight, and Heather (Seth's wife, and my good friend) went to a friend of their's house to have dinner and watch a movie. We had chicken fettuccine alfredo, and this great salad, which I meant to find out what it was, and I forgot. haha. Then we watched Juno, which was really good. We had a good time, and I learned a lot about the Air Force that I didn't know, thanks to One of the girls who was there who had been in the Air Force.

Then today, we went to church, and then went to Chili's for my dad's birthday. We left at around 2:30, with the intention of going to Daffodil Hill, and we get there, and it was closed for the season! I was so bummed. Oh well... maybe we will make it next year.

So, that was our weekend! What did you do? =)

Blue Willow

So, I love Blue Willow China. My mom has almost a full set that she collected when she was a teenager, and they have been displayed in a china cabinet for as long as I can remember. I have always loved them.
Well, Imagine my surprise and delight when I walked into Savemart yesterday and they have Blue Willow dishes for sale as part of a 6 or 9 week promotion. Of course they aren't the original ones, but they are Churchill, and they are made in Columbia, and I am happy because now I have pretty dishes to use, and they were only $1.99 each! I got 6 plates, but may grab a few more.

Here is some interesting info about the pattern:
The Blue Willow pattern was inspired by a Chinese legend about two young lovers. A wealthy man's daughter (Hong Shee) fell in love with her father's secretary (Chang). The father did not approve of the romance. So, he confined the girl to the palace. With help from her sympathetic maid, Hong Shee escaped. The two lovers ran over a bridge to a boat and sailed away together. A terrible storm developed, the boat sank and the two lovers drowned. Legend says that two love birds appeared in the sky --- the spirits of Hong Shee and Chang happily together at last.

Anyways, if you have no clue what I am talking about, here is what they look like:

I am happy, I have some pretty dishes now! =)

Side Note!

Oh my gosh, last night I made the best bbq ever! haha. Ok, well not the best, but at least the best I have ever made. lol.

I got the McCormick Slow Cooker BBQ pulled pork packet. (yeah, a packet, so what?) and put a pork roast in the crockpot (the ones you get in a three pack at costco are really good for this) Then I followed the directions, and it came out super good!

It was seriously delicious! Ask Josh, he loved it!

So yeah, if you are craving good BBQ, go to the grocery store and get a packet of McCormicks! haha

The Dentist....

I am so frustrated right now with the dentist I had to go to.

My appointment was at 9. I got there at 8:50, knowing I probably had paperwork to fill out. I did. I filed it out, then continued to sit in the waiting room for an HOUR!

Finally, I got called back, had to wait a minute, the Assistant came, asked what was the problem, then let again. I waited some more. She came in, took an x-ray, said the dentist would be in in a minute, then left. I waited some more. Finally, the dentist came in, looked at the xray, looked at my tooth. (literally, just looked at it... didnt prod or probe, nothing, just looked) Then said he could put a filling in it, but I really need a crown done in the long run, then went to see how much it would cost me. THen the receptionist came in with the estimate, said I could do the filling now or later, I said ok, now is fine. She left. I waited for at least another 20 minutes, and finally I was like forget it... this is ridiculous. I was looking around, and another assistant came in and asked if I was ok. I told her that I wanted to just leave, and get the procedure done another time, as I had already been there for 2 hours. She went and talked to the front desk, and ok'd it with them.

Turns out my assistant and the dentist had another patient, and were doing an oral surgery that as taking longer than expected. Why do they overschedule like that? and Why the heck couldn't the assistant have popped her head in and at least told me what the heck was going on?!? So ridiculous!!!

The good part was that the assistant that came in and let me go was super nice and apologetic, and so was the billing lady, and they waived my fees for today. ($17 for the dentist to 'look' in my mouth... stupid anyways) So that was cool.

So, I have an appointment on may 7, just to have the filling put in until I get insurance and can get a crown...

Well, Off to work now.... fun fun fun....

The work day...

So, Friday night we went up to my parents property so that we could help them on the garage they are building. We hung out friday night, sat in front of the bonfire and relaxed.
This is what it looked like when we got there friday:

Saturday morning... lower part of the property:

Saturday we woke up, hung out for a little bit, waited for some other people to get there, and they got to work. (Me and my mom just hung out and watched.) They got a lot done in one day! We had to drive into town twice (20 minute drive or so each way) to go to Ace Hardware, once for nails, and the second time for subfloor glue and screws.
This is what it looked like when they finished for the day:

They got a lot done!
This is my dad:

This is Jeremiah... he helped a lot, but he is crazy! I would have fallen if I tried this...

So, after they were done working, my mom made steaks and baked potates and corn on the cob... yum!!! Then we headed home! We were exausted. But it was a good day.

Today we got up and went to breakfast with my Nanny (step-grandma) and then went to the dog park and met adam and renee there, and let Stella play around a little bit. Then we took her to Petsmart to get a bath... which they didn't do a very good job... I am not too happy about it.... I may write the manager or something. Oh well. Now we are just hanging out at home. It is a nice day outside.... almost too hot to go outside. well, not really, but hotter than we are used to... it is in the 80's. =)

Here are a couple pictures of the dogs I will leave you with..... Stella, My parent's dog Onyx, who is a Black German Shepherd, and my brother's puppy, Achilles, who is a boxer pitbull puppy. Enjoy and have a great sunday!

Work day

Well, last night, Adam and Renee came over for dinner. I attempted crock pot fajitas. They were pretty good. I just took a pot roast, put it in the crock pot with a packet of fajita seasoning and a little extra water, peppers and onions. It came out pretty good. they tasted a bit like pot roast in tortillas, haha, but it was a decent meal.
Then we watched Moving McAllister. Wouldn't really recommend it... it wasn't the best movie. =)
Today, I got up, watched some tv, worked on our family tree. (breakthrough!!! I found and ordered the death certificate of Josh's great great grandfather, Thomas Welch... we were completely stuck on him, didn't know where he was born, his parents, etc. His family was Catholic, and he married a methodist girl and they were disowned from both their families. Anyways, the death certificate, if filled out like it should be, should have his place of birth and his parents names. So, keep your finger's crossed!)
Then I finished Brian and Victoria's wedding invitations, took a shower and now Here I sit. Josh is taking his drivers test today to get his Nevada License (yeah, you have to take a test here if you are under 25, even if you already have a different state license. dumb!) So I am going to go with him just in case he doesn't pass. He should though, he looked over the handbook. When I went, I didn't know I had to take a test, so I didn't study at all, and I barely passed.
Then, we are heading up to my parents property, to help them more with the garage they are building. We will be up there till tomorrow night. I am not forgetting my camera this time! haha.
Anyways, until Sunday! Have a great weekend!

Ugh....

I really don't like dentists....

and I just broke a big piece off of a filling. Yay for me. Stupid popcorn.

luckily it doesn't really hurt, and I am thinking that maybe it is the tooth I had a root canal on back in like jr. high... I hope.... but I kinda don't think so. I dont know...

I just hate the dentist. Especially when we dont have insurance. At least I was able to sign up for a discount dental plan... It will cost $50 for the filling rather than $100. I am hoping all they need to do is just Patch up the hole and be done with it. I hope, I hope, I hope.....

Exercise is good!

So today after work, Josh ran home, got the dog and my walking clothes (he gets off a half an hour before me) and came back and picked me up amd we went over to the walking trails we found on Saturday (see last post).
We 'briskly' walked the full loop, which is 1.6 miles. It felt so good! The weather was perfect, nice and cool, but sunny, and not cold.
When we were done, I felt so good! I love the feeling after I exercise. I feel good, I feel like I accomplished something. Josh and I decided we are going to walk that path at least 3 times every week. (weather permitting)
So now I just have to work on watching what I eat. I was reading a magazine the other day, and there was a diet in there that I am going to try. It is called the No 'S' Diet... Basically, No Sweets, no snacks and no seconds except on days that start with S. You watch what you eat all week, and on saturdays and sundays you can eat what you want. They say it kind of jump starts your metabolism... It sounds like one I can actually stick with and not feel like I am missing out on 'good food' I just have to wait for the weekend!
So we will see. I really need to lose weight... I am tired of feeling fat. my first goal is to get back to the wedding weight. second goal is to get back to the weight I was at before I moved to TN. That was my lowest weight, and I looked and felt good, and felt good about myself. Not to mention the boxes of clothes I have in the garage for that size that I can't bear to part with. =)
So, Pray for me!!!

Saturday

Today we slept in, and I got up and made Josh biscuits and gravy because he has been begging me to make it for a while now. =)
At about noon, we decided to go find a 'dog park' that we had heard about that is supposedly just a few minutes drive from our house. It wasn't what we were expecting, we thought it was a fenced in park where we could let Stella run off her leash, but it wasn't. Instead, it is a wetlands/park with walking trails that are dog friendly. There are three loops you can walk. The North loop, the South Loop, or the Full loop, which is both of them. The full loop is 1.6 miles, and that is what we walked today. It was really nice! packed dirt trails, that are really wide, part of it goes alongside the carson river with nice spots to wade in if it is warm enough, benches here and there to relax on, and lots of Birds for Stella to watch. lol.
So we are excited that we found this trail so close to our house. We will definitely be making use of it more.
So tonight, we are going to go to Church and Bible Study, then come home and probably go to bed, because tommorrow, we are going snowboarding! Josh got two tickets to Squaw Valley for free from a friend of his, and we are finally going to make use of them. Oh Lordy.... I haven't been snowboarding in 2 years. This should be interesting. Hopefully I wont fall too many times. =)

I will leave you with some pictures from our walk.

My new Macro Lens

So, with some of the money I got for my birthday a couple weeks ago, I found a Macro Lens on Ebay and bought it. It came in the mail today, and I got some time to play with it when we went on a walk.
I have to say... It isn't quite what I had hoped. It doesn't get as close up as I would like, but for now, it will do. =)
Here are a few Shots I got today. Enjoy!

And because I thought this was pretty funny...

Tricia got new lungs!

She came out of surgery at 6:30 this morning, and is in ICU now. Be praying for her and her recovery now!!!
