Beautiful Sleep!

I love sleep!

However, for the past oh, 10 months, sleep has eluded me. Though the reason for the lack of sleep has been totally worth it!

I have been thinking about trying to get Jack to sleep through the night for quite some time now, but was just being lazy about it and didn't really want to go through the crying in the middle of the night.

But finally last week, after weeks of him waking up at least every 2 hours I decided that it was finally time.

So Monday night was our first night. Jack woke up at about 4:45, and cried until about 5:30 or so... Though later that morning when he woke back up I think he would have cried less if I had gone in and changed his diaper, since he had gone #2 and his rash was really bad! I felt bad after that, so on tuesday night I decided that I would go in and chance him if he woke up.

He did wake up tuesday night at about 2:45, so after about 10 minutes, I went in and changed him (he had gone #2, so I know it hurt with the rash being at it's worst that day.) He stopped crying at 3:15.

Since then, he hasn't woken up at all! (at least not that we have heard!) It has been so nice! If I had known it was going to be this easy, I would have done this a long time ago!!! So I can officially say Jack sleeps through the night! He's been sleeping from about 8pm until 7:30-8:30pm.

Now that he is sleeping through the night though, I have noticed his naps have taken a turn for the worse. He was taking two good 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hour naps every day. Now I think he is trying to cut one out. The past couple days I've managed to get him down for 2 naps. One morning one that is a good one, from 1 1/2 to 2 hours, and then a short afternoon nap. but today he took a long morning map, but then would not take an afternoon nap. So, I think I will start trying to push his morning nap slightly later and go ahead and cut out the afternoon nap (unless he acts really tired on any given day.)

How old were your babies when they started sleeping through the night? Or cut down on their naps? I'd love to hear your input! =)

WOOHOO!! GO JACK!!
my girls both were right at 7 or 8 weeks old when they started sleeping through the night. (NOT rubbing it in!!!) we started the "cry it out" thing right about then. of course there's been a sickness or something random where they'll wake up. but even still, unless catie's sick, if she wakes up in the middle of the night we let her cry. every once in a while she will wake up at about 5:30 or 6 in the morning, but i make her cry it out. we don't start our days before 7:30, just something i'm a stickler about. here's my reasoning and why i'm not a horrible mom (lol): if she typically sleeps from 8pm-7:30am, i KNOW her body can go that long without being hungry. she does not physically NEED food. does that make sense?
as far as naps go, gabbi took two naps a day right until she was one. when she turned one, we started weeding out the morning nap. she took 2 naps off and on until she was about 15 months old. catie still takes 2 (sometimes 3) naps. both of them are big sleepers. until recently, now gabbi seems to play through her nap time. i still give her that "rest" time though, whether she naps or not. we all need it!!! jack's napping will work itself out and you'll find a groove, i'm sure.
so glad to hear he's turned a corner and you're getting some sleep. you deserve it, girl!
