I recently got the opportunity to try some products from Novena Maternal Skincare. The ingredients in Novena are organic, vegan, natural, environmentally safe and animal friendly.
Novena products were created by Jeanette D. Garcia Acosta CME, a Licensed Medical Esthetician. In 2003 she embarked on a mission to find a complete skincare line for her Pregnant and infertility patient clients that was free of Parabens (preservative), Sulfates (foaming agent), and Phthalates (bonding agent), which are chemicals found in 90% of all personal care products.
When she did not find a suitable product line, she quickly decided to find an organic lab that could collaborate with her in developing a line that was safe, effective and addressed skin problems associated with pregnancy, (unbalanced/dehydrated, breakouts, brown spots, and stretch marks).Careful consideration was taken when choosing the organic/natural ingredients for this maternity skincare line due to the fact that even holistic herbs and oils can be very harmful in certain stages of pregnancy.
I was sent the Organic Anti-Aging Mineral Sunblock SPF 30, and the Organic Fruit Face Wash. Both of these products have worked pretty well for me. The face wash smells nice and works well. The only downside about it is it is very runny, so you have to make sure you open the bottle with it pointed up, otherwise you may end up with a lot more on your hand than you intended!
The sunblock works great. It is really thick, and goes on white so you know you aren't missing spots. It may stay white for a little while, but it will absorb and clear up. It does have a strong smell to it at first, but I think that fades a bit after a while.
